"Xochitl", as the ancient Aztecs called squash blossoms is one of my favorite words & one of my favorite things to grow. Yes, we have to get to the field before 5am to pick them before they open, but what a wonderful ingredient that tastes like summer! The seeds were given to us from friends that live in Mexico. They grow this variety because if you keep the female fruit cut from the vine, the plant will produce an incredible multitude of male flowers. The fruits are just as delightful as the flowers.
